Abuse As An Excuse?

A friend of mine told me that she is really promiscuous because she was ually abused as a child. Is that a valid reason? I went through the same thing as a child and i have some commitment issues, but she sleeps around alot. Does it affect people differently or is she just justifying her behavior?
